With their lead in the North Region slipping away to nothing, the Pirates needed a clutch win against a familiar rival.

They got it.

Peninsula overcame a five-point halftime deficit to knock off the Bellevue Bulldogs 69-65 on Feb. 19.

Jalon McCullough led all scorers with 19 points, Darrion Daniels had 16 points and Alex Baham added 11 points off the bench to pace the offense.

McCullough was 5-for-8 from 3-point range.

Cole Rabedeaux added 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals for PC.

Jaden Vollmen and Max Tilden led a balanced Bellevue attack with 12 points each.

The Pirates, who out-scored their hosts 42-33 in the second half, forced 15 Bulldog turnovers that led to 15 points.

With the win, Peninsula (8-3, 17-6) remains tied with Shoreline for the North Region lead with three games remaining in the regular season.

The win helped PC rebound from a 66-55 upset at Olympic on Feb. 15.

Daniels scored 22 points and McCullough added 11 points and five assists, but outside of Daniels’ hot night (9-of-18) the Pirates struggled, shooting just 11-of-37 (29 percent).

Juwan Flowers had 15 points and Niah Spearman added 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Rangers.

PC gave up 16 second-chance points and 16 off of their 12 turnovers.

Olympic also got to the line 22 times; Peninsula, just nine.
