The Sequim Equestrian Team racked up a slew of top-10 finishes — including two first-place efforts — at their second district meet of the season, held March 16-18 in Spanaway.
Sequim’s Drill Team Freestyle Fours team of Yana Hoesel, Amanda Murphy, Grace Niemeyer and Miranda Williams took first, as did Hoesel, Williams, Amanda and Madi Murphy in Team Canadian Flags.
Niemeyer had Sequim’s top individual finish, placing second in Dressage and third in Huntseat. Lilly Thomas took third in In-Hand Trail while Hoesel was third in Individual Flags.
The meet saw about 100 competitors from 10 teams ranging from Bellingham to Vancouver, Wa.
The third and final district meet is set for March 30-April 1, also in Spanaway. The state meet is set for May 17-20 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.
