Clallam County – A citizen’s call yesterday afternoon regarding possible criminal activity inside a vehicleresulted in a drug arrest for a Sequim woman.

Shortly before 3:00 pm yesterday, a citizen called 911 to report the occupants of a black Acura smoking out of a device that resembled a long clear pipe.  Trooper Grant Clark was working in the area of SR101 near Kitchen Dick Road when the call came in.  He observed the vehicle, and noticed an unrestrained female passenger.  The vehicle was stopped near Shore Road.

The 21 year-old male driver from Port Angeles and the 20 year-old female passenger from Sequim were questioned by the trooper.  The female passenger was asked for identification and when she opened her purse the trooper observed a large clear pipe approximately 10 inches long lying on top.  The pipe, along with a small baggie of marijuana was located in herpurse.

The woman was cited for Possession/Use of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana.  The driver was questioned and it was determined that he was not impaired.

The Washington State Patrol encourages the public to call 911 to report any suspicious behavior, including possible DUI drivers.  Since it is impossible for troopers to be everywhere at once, we rely on information from the public to assist us in keeping our roads safe.
