Sequim middle schoolers got into the festive spirit with their annual door-decorating contest on Dec. 17.
Lights, garlands, wreaths, stockings and more adorned most classroom doors as students in their first-period classes spruced up for prizes.
Some classrooms decorated so much they purposefully carried decorations onto nearby halls.
Tricia Billes’ and Tom Saffolds’ eighth-grade students sang carols to judges.
Superintendent Bill Bentley was impressed by the students’ efforts after judging the competition.
“This is the most festive middle school I’ve ever been in,†he said.
The first-period teachers whose classrooms won first place were Dave McInnes, Tracy Barnes, Tricia Billes and Debra Beckett.
Second place went to the students in Carolynn MacDonald’s, Michael Galligan’s, Tom Saffold’s and Isabella Morrison’s classrooms.
Classes that won first received homemade cinnamon rolls and second place classes won cups of hot cocoa in class on Friday, Dec. 18.
