No one was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 at Barr Road that backed up traffic in both directions for about an hour. According to the Washington State Patrol, A Dodge Caravan driven by Bridgett D Faunce was stopped to turn left when it was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Utility driven by Shirley Anne Gallauher.
Gallauher, who was reaching for her cell phone at the time, was cited for negligent driving. She sustained a sore leg but was wearing her seat belt. Faunce, who also was wearing her seatbelt, was treated at Olympic Medical Center for a sore neck and back and released.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
“This is a good time to remind people to be careful driving in the dark and rain. It’s also a reminder not to reach for items while driving,” said Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Krista Hedstrom.
