Poker run to raise funds for animals

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society presents a Poker Run on Saturday, July 25, with sign-up starting at 10:30 a.m. at Steele’s Sports Bar, 1605 E. Front St., Port Angeles.

The run begins at Steele’s with five stops along a around Lake Crescent, into Sequim and then back to Steele’s.

At each stop, participants will receive a playing card. At the end of the event, the person who has the best poker hand will have first pick among prizes.

Entry costs $10 per rider and $10 for passengers; all proceeds benefit the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society’s building fund.

After the ride will be live music, food, a silent auction and other festivities at Steele’s.

In another event to benefit the society, EdenScapes plans a classic car show, arts and crafts, a silent auction and prize drawings from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at 404 Shore Road, Port Angeles.

Raffle winners needn’t attend to win but must buy $2 tickets.

A potluck barbecue will feature hot dogs as the main dish.

Auction and drawing items include a $300 Sea Wulff sailing charter around Port Townsend for up to six people, a desktop hard drive from RadioShack, a $100 gift certificate from Waters West Inc., a gift package of several different restaurants, food gift certificates, dog toys, dog gift certificates, gift items from Sequim and Port Angeles, a circular saw from Thomas Building Center and more.
