Sequim City Councilor Bill Huizinga is expected home from Seattle’s Swedish Hospital on Friday after suffering a heart attack Tuesday night.

The 69-year-old Huizinga was listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday morning in the intensive care unit of Swedish Hospital’s Cherry Hill campus.

“He’s doing really well. He’s a riot, he cracks me up,” the nursing supervisor said.

Fellow councilor and friend Walt Schubert said Huizinga was in discomfort Tuesday night and was taken to the fire station, then to the hospital before being airlifted to Seattle.

“He had a stent put in this morning and should be home on Friday,” Schubert said.

Huizinga has been a councilor since April 2001. He is running unopposed for re-election this year.

A Sequim resident since 1974, Huizinga owned Landmark Realty for 20 years and now works as a right of way agent for Clallam County.
