Spotlight on Boys & Girls Club

Editor’s note: Today the Sequim Gazette continues its weekly spotlight on member agencies of United Way of Clallam County. The series will continue through the umbrella charity’s current campaign.

Mission statement:

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula is "to enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens."

Service area:

Existing clubs in Sequim and Port Angeles. Potential to build clubs throughout Clallam and Jefferson counties if and when communities are interested.

People served: 2008 registered membership of 886 youths, outreach to more than 3,500 youths.

Annual budget/United Way funding: 2009 budget: $1,059,250; United Way funds 10 percent of budget, mostly from donor designations.
