Editor’s note: Today the Sequim Gazette continues its weekly spotlight on member agencies of United Way of Clallam County.
Mission statement: Our mission is to help parents do an excellent job as their child’s first teachers.
Service area: All of Clallam County and several towns in nearby counties.
Parenting Matters serves Sequim and Port Angeles kindergarten students, as well as grades 4-8 with a parenting tool-kit.
A resource newsletter supports grandparents raising grandchildren.
People served: Sequim First Teacher, 1,861; Sequim kindergarten, 422; Port Angeles First Teacher, 2,495; Port Angeles kindergarten, 320; Port Angeles grades 4-8, 3,807; West End First Teacher, 918.
Annual budget/United Way funding: Annual budget is $200,000. United Way funds $5,000 or 2.5 percent of the budget.
