Stubborn structure fire in Port Angeles

Clallam County Fire District 3 personnel assisted Port Angeles firefighters with a Tuesday night structure fire in Port Angeles. No one was injured in the blaze, which took about two and a half hours to put out.

Damage estimates were unavailable Wednesday afternoon but Port Angeles Fire Chief Dan McKeen said the fire caused significant heat and smoke damage to the basement and some to the first floor of the vacant building.

The fire at 321 E. Eighth St. was reported at 10:46 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, when thick smoke was seen coming from numerous windows and from underneath the eaves. In addition to Fire District 3, Clallam County Fire District 2 responded. Photos by Jay Cline.
