City expands Adopt-A-Planting program

The City of Sequim is looking for volunteers to participate in the Adopt-A-Planting Site Program for two newly identified priority sites on Washington Street.
The first site is a small planting area located on the 800 block of West Washington Street between South Shaw Lane and Ninth Avenue. The second site is the Hardy Fuchsia Garden, located on the 800 block of East Washington Street at the entrance to Bell Street Plaza. This garden was created several years ago by the North Olympics Fuchsia Society and is home to about 50 different hardy fuchsias.
Through the Adopt-a-Planting Site Program community organizations, businesses and neighborhood groups can choose an existing planting area to maintain throughout the year. The city provides supplies as needed and volunteers are covered by liability insurance when they are working on the site.
Those interested in adopting a planting site may contact city volunteer coordinator Pam Leonard-Ray at pleonard-ray@sequimwa.gov or 582-2447.
