Henke, veteran Clallam County deputy, retires

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office recently paid honor to corrections deputy Chuck Henke for 31 years of service.

Sheriff’s Office members praised Henke for his contributions and improvements to the office’s operations, particularly with the Electronic Home Monitoring Program and Chain Gang Program.

Henke worked as a corrections deck officer, medical liaison officer, field training officer, lead corrections officer, control officer, court officer, chain gang officer and assistant manager of the Special Detention Unit.

Henke was awarded the Sheriff’s Star by Sheriff Bill Benedict during a presentation at the commissioners’ meeting on Oct. 1.

In presenting Henke with a Sheriff’s Star, Benedict wrote of Henke, “(his) 31½ years of service with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office have been marked by a deep and abiding dedication to the essence of public safety, service with humility and an exceptional commitment to the care and keeping of all he came into contact with regardless of the circumstances. He performed exceptionally in virtually all aspects of the corrections profession.”
