A spokesman State Auditor’s Office said his agency has delayed by a few weeks plans to conduct an audit of the Port of Port Angeles.
Thomas Shapley said the auditor’s office each year conducts a routine financial and accountability audit of the Port, but this year the scope has been expanded “as result of citizen hotline complaints.”
“Numerous ones, I understand.”
Shapley said the details of the complaints won’t be released until the audit is completed.
He was able to say that the expanded audit will look into the circumstances surrounding the June 24 resignation of former Executive Director Jeff Robb and his immediate rehiring as director of the Port’s environmental affairs.
Shapley said the names of those filing the complaints may be released following the completion of the audit or they may be kept confidential. He said those filing a complaint can choose to remain anonymous.
Shapley added that the audit likely will include an investigation of concerns regarding possible Open Meetings Act violations.
