Prescription drugs focus of Science Café

Prescription drugs are the topic at the January edition of the Sequim Education Foundation’s next Science Cafe.
Dr. Vicky Blakesley presents “From Mouse to Man: The Development of Useful Prescription Drugs” from 6:30-8 p.m. on Jan. 14 at the Paradise Restaurant in Sequim.
Blakesley is the president and co-founder of Collaborative Clinical Plus, LLC, a consulting firm that assists pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide with clinical development and regulatory filings. She holds degrees in biochemistry and medicine with a specialty in internal medicine and subspecialty in endocrinology and metabolism.
Blakesley will discuss the steps from scientific discovery through studies in humans with the ultimate goal of developing an approved prescription drug useful for the treatment of
human disease.
The Science Café is a community service of Sequim Education Foundation. Programs present expert speakers for adult and young adult audiences interested in current developments in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Science Café events are held on the second Tuesday of the month at the Paradise Restaurant. Admission is free and food and beverages are available for purchase. For more information about Sequim Education Foundation, see www.sequimed.org.
