The Olympic Peninsula’s four golf courses and local businesses are hosting a hole-in-one challenge worth $500,000.
Sponsored by 7 Cedars Casino, Elwha River Casino, M.V. Coho Ferry and First Federal, the event opens up a 100-yard hole at each local golf course – The Cedars at Dungeness, SunLand Golf & Country Club and SkyRidge Golf Course in Sequim, and Peninsula Golf Club in Port Angeles – from Aug.6-Sept. 4.
For $2 per ball, $10 for a dozen balls or $20 for 14 balls, golfers try their luck at getting a hole-in-one.
Those who sink aces are entered into a final, while daily duffers who are closest to the pin may qualify as well.
Finalists converge upon Peninsula Golf Club on Sept. 10, looking to make a hole-in-one on the 150-yard 18th hole. Contestants have one swing at the $500,000 grand prize. Remaining contestants hit for the second grand prize, a new car from Wilder Auto Center.
If no one sinks an ace in the finals, prizes go to the six golfers who come closest to the pin.
The event is a fundraiser for the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Olympic Medical Center Foundation.
