Elton John was right: Saturday night is all right for fighting.
7 Cedars Casino’s Events Center hosts a mixed martial arts event on Aug. 27, with 12 fights slated plus two main events.
Headlining the show is a bout between 135-pounders Jeff Hatton of Aberdeen and Arjay Murphy of Tacoma.
Hatton is a former high school wrestling star who now fights with the Twin Dragons team while Tacoma’s Murphy is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor with more than 15 MMA bouts to his credit.
The co-main event sees Sequim native Tony Gockerell pitted against Adam Laredo of Aberdeen in the 205-pound weight class.
Other local fighters on the bill include Jake Blaski, Rodney Caldwell, Matt Spry, J.C. Lopez, Jason Garmen, Dave Bunnell and Thomas Reza Eftekhari of Sequim, and Jacob Goudie, Jeremy McBride and Jesse Schumack of Port Angeles.
Special guest is Amir Sadollah, champion of the “Ultimate Fighter 7” series.
This is a nonsmoking event and is open to those 18 years and older (ID required).
Fighters weigh in at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26; weigh-ins are open and free to the public.
