No harm done.

Sequim’s hardball players hosted their own kind of abbreviated spring training Saturday afternoon, working the kinks out in a pair of shortened, non-league scrimmages against two bigger, 4A schools.

The Wolves dropped the opener to Central Kitsap 8-6. Sequim’s Ryan Hueter drove in two with a single and Preston McFarlen added an RBI hit.

"We hit the ball great, but gave up too many walks and misplayed a couple of balls on defense," Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said.

After giving up a three-run home run in the first inning, Sequim played nearly perfect in a 3-1 loss to Federal Way. Drew Rickerson had an RBI single in the first and tossed a shutout inning on the mound. Teammate Jeremie Oliver also had a shutout inning.

"Other than a few hiccups, there were a lot of positives on Saturday," Ditlefsen said. "It was a very encouraging day against two very good 4A programs."

The Wolves were slated to play at Chimacum on March 15 – results were not available at press

time. Sequim is at Bellarmine Prep (Tacoma) on March 17 and hosts Forks March 19.
