Local sprint boats hit TV channels

Jeepers Creepers, TNT Racing’s Sequim-based sprint boat team, is one of several featured on Speed TV at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 4. The half-hour “Lucas Oil on the Edge” show includes a 10-minute segment, TNT Racing team member Teri Cummings notes, that includes sprint boat champ Dillon Brown of Sequim giving a Speed TV reporter a ride.

Fastpitch squad seeks funds

Sequim High School’s fastpitch team, the 2011 state 2A champions, is seeking help

for fees associated with running the program, including equipment, uniforms, field maintenance and accommodations at postseason tournaments.

Donations are tax deductible and supporters of the program may receive a sign that displays team supporters at the SHS athletic facility. Donors who contribute $200 or more receive recognition as part of the team’s “Homerun Booster Club Level.”

MacKay christens hole with an ace

Scott MacKay, a club member at SkyRidge Golf Course, recorded the first ever hole-in-one on the new par-3 hole No. 10.

McKay hit a solid cut 9-iron from 117 yards out for his second ace at SkyRidge and his second in 30 years of golf.

Playing with MacKay were John Naples, Allen Patton, Shane Price and Carl Taylor.

SkyRidge hosts spring scramble

It’s a two-person scramble Spring Opener at SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway, set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, April 14.

The tourney features two divisions (gross and net).

Cost is $100 per team. Fee includes range balls, KPs and lunch following play. Carts are $15 per seat.

Class of 2012 puts on golf tourney

The Sequim High School Class of 2012 Golf Tournament is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start Saturday, April 21.

Tourney format is a four-person scramble. Cost is $65 per person.

Registration begins at noon.

Tournament organizers also are seeking sponsors, including sponsorships at the gold ($500), silver ($250) and bronze (flat donation) levels.

Locals fare well at state HotSpot event

Port Angeles sharpshooters placed high at the 2012 State HotSpot basketball skills competition, held March 18 at North Thurston High School in Lacey.

Ty Bradow took home second place in the boys’ 7-8 division, after tying for first place and going to a tiebreaker round.

Former state champion Janson Pederson placed second in the boys’ 13-14 division, finishing three points behind the winner.

Ava Brenkman took home fourth place out of 10 competitors in the girls’ 7-8 Division.

B&G golf tourney set

The 21st annual Boys & Girls Club Golf Tournament is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start on Friday, May 18, at Sunland Golf & Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive.

Format is a four-person scramble.

Cost is $100 per entry. Fee includes lunch, tee prizes, games, raffles and more.
