Peninsula athletes play punt, pass, kick
The Olympic Peninsula was represented well at the Punt, Pass & Kick Sectional Competition, held Oct. 23-24 in Lacey, with five competitors from the local competition in Port Angeles competing well.
Lenora Hofer was the only medal winner, finishing second in the girls’ 14-15 age group, losing to a girl from Olympia by 12 points.
Hayden Woods and Riley Cowan finished just off the medal stand, taking home fourth place in the boys’ 8-9 and 10-11 age groups, respectively. Nicholas Faunce of Sequim and Dillon Ralls of Port Townsend also competed well, with Faunce finishing fifth in the boys’ 12/13 division and Ralls taking fifth in the boys’ 14/15.
Hoops tip-off tourney set
The Port Angeles Recreation Department is hosting the Youth Tip-off basketball tourney, set for Nov. 6-7.
The tournament features divisions for boys’ and girls’ teams in grades 5-12
There is a four-game guarantee.
Cost is $235 per team.

Mixed martial event is at 7 Cedars
The 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 Highway 101 in Blyn, hosts a mixed martial arts event on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Tickets are $30 for general seating, $65 for reserved seats. The event is open to those 18 and older (ID required), and is a nonsmoking event.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with fights at 7 p.m.

SHS equestrian team seeks new members
Any Sequim-area students in grades 9-12 who are interested in trying out for the Sequim High School equestrian team are invited to join.
Students who are homeschooled or are high school-aged college students are eligible.

SkyRidge hosts Kaps scholarship scramble
The Rick Kaps Scholarship Scramble at SkyRidge Golf Course (7015 Old Olympic Highway) is set for Friday, Nov. 26.
Some proceeds go for
Sequim High School scholarships.
Entry fee is $220 per team before Nov. 25 or $240 per team the day of the tournament.
The format is a four-person scramble.
Tournament entry includes a meal, T-shirt, KP prizes, range balls and scholarship donation.
