Glorious Gold theme glitters as First Friday Art Walk’s theme

The Dec. 5 First Fridat Art Walk color theme is gold as we celebrate the Winter Solstice and the return of the sun during December. Gold represents lifelong relationships, kindhearted deeds, wealth, adoration and warm gatherings.
First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a fun, free, self-guided tour of local art venues in Sequim on the First Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m. Visit online at www.sequimartwalk.com to download and print your own map, find special events, links and how you can be part of art.
First Friday’s mission is to create approachable, accessible art and cultural venues encouraging the community to connect and celebrate expression and diversity.
Since 2006, the First Friday Art Walk Sequim has been an encouraging and educational arts event is sponsored and produced by Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond/unique as you.

Special events for Dec. 5:
• Experience an evening out exploring exceptional art in Sequim and discover quality treasures of various media by Mary Beth Beuke of West Coast Sea Glass, Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond of unique as you and Jean Wyatt of J Wyatt Art at this collaborative arts sale at Sunshine Café at 145 W. Washington St. Exclusive “Ultimate Guide to Sea Glass” book signing with Mary Beth that evening.
Engage with the artists directly at this special event produced by Burning Down the House Creative Collective that is a local group of art businesses dedicated to encouraging “education, positive professionalism and creating inclusive opportunities and camaraderie.”
• R&T Crystals and Beads will have jewelry demonstrations from Paulette Hill and Gail McLain, as well as serving the best holiday candy in town at 158 E. Bell St.
• New location! A Dropped Stitch is now at 136 S. Second Ave. and full of amazing fiber, yarn, with classes for holiday gifts and a lifetime of creative enjoyment.
• New Art Walk Venue! Local Yarn Shop at 213 E Washington St.
Looking ahead to the “Silver” theme for the Jan. 2 First Friday Art Walk Sequim, we will have another costumed, participatory “Whodunnit Downtown?” during the evening where you can find clues at many venues with the opportunity to win a big prize!
Inspired by “The Thin Man,” “The Case of the Silver Tabby Kittynapping” game has a fun dress-up theme of Silver and 1930s Noir. Martini, the famously diamond-collared silver tabby kitty cat owned by “The Sequim Man,” has been kidnapped! Help our super sleuths Rick and Rosa Barrels find her before it is too late! Everyone is encouraged to dress the part and enjoy the crime-solving mystery!
Sequim venues
• To welcome the holiday season, the Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., Sequim, offers its Annual Holiday Group Show in the front windows, opening on First Friday, Dec. 5, and the Gift Gallery in the center of the gallery, opening on Nov. 28 to the community. Both exhibits will be on through Dec. 29. Karin Anderson, a veteran artist who is well known in the community, will curate the special exhibits. Enter to win a painting by founding member Shirley Foss. Drawing to be held on First Friday, Dec. 5. Meet the artists from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 5.
• Gallery on the Walls showcases Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton at 128 E. Washington St. inside the Sequim Vision Center.
• Bank of America, 114 S. Sequim Ave., no reception. Judy Priest, watercolor artist, will show at the Bank of America during December.
• Colors of Sequim, 139 W. Washington St., featured artists The North Olympic Watercolorists, Tai Chi demo/dance with Catherine Villara Giumini, M.S., music with Victor Reventlow, and Boys & Girls Club art exhibit, 5-8 p.m.
• Gallery at the Fifth Avenue, 500 W. Hendrickson Road. Watercolorist Roxanne Grinstad is the featured artist for December. Meet the artist from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.
• LARC Gallery, 425 E. Washington St. Shirley Mercer is the featured artist. Meet her from 5-8 p.m.
• Museum & Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St., featured artist for December will be Skip Kratzer, whose specialty is car and motorcycle graphics. The exhibit will be open Dec. 3-13. Meet the artist from 5-8 p.m.
• Strait Financial Advice, 193 W. Cedar St., no reception. Scott Erickson’s photographic scenes of Southwest Alaska, North Olympic Peninsula and other locations in the U.S. are on display during normal business hours.
