Save the date for anglers’ fundraiser

The Puget Sound Anglers/North Olympic Peninsula Chapter hosts the club’s annual fundraiser auction and dinner starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Sunland Golf and Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive.

Proceeds from the auction provide the majority of funding for the annual Olympic Peninsula Kids Fishing Program, held at the Sequim water reclamation pond.

Fly-fishing seminar set

Internationally renowned Washington fly-fisher and fly-tier Skip Morris will present a one-day fly-fishing seminar to benefit the management of Teal Lake located in Port Ludlow.

The seminar will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place, Port Ludlow.

Hosted by the Port Ludlow Fly Fishers club, Morris will describe proven techniques for fly-fishing lakes gained through years of hands-on experience.

Cost of the seminar is $30 a person ($15 for ages 17 and under) in advance or $35 a person ($20 for ages 17 and under) at the door. Price includes lunch.

Sequim resident sinks ace

Warren Cortez of Sequim sank a hole-in-one at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course on Jan. 14.

Cortez used a 7-iron to drive the 145-yard hole No. 8.

Verl Nelson and George Switzer, both of Sequim, witnessed the feat.
