Special election: New numbers, little change for school bond, SARC levy

Friday’s release of ballots cast in the Feb. 10 special election saw more than 1,000 ballots cast for two Sequim measures, but didn’t help either a Sequim School District school construction bond nor the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center levy reach the required 60 percent mark.

The school construction bond now has 7,358 yes votes, or about 57.5 percent of the 12,796 ballots cast — up from 57.1 percent announced on election night (Feb. 10).

The Clallam County Park and Recreation District 1 (SARC) levy proposal now boasts 7,258 of 12,626 votes cast, just under 57.5 percent.

Both measures needed a “super majority” of 60 percent to gain approval.

Clallam County Elections Department officials have counted 23,577 ballots for the Feb. 10 special election that features the two Sequim measures, two Port Angeles school measures and a Forks Hospital levy — about 52.4 percent of the 45,005 eligible voters in the county.

The election is certified on Feb. 24.
