Dressing down earns dollars for OMC patient program

A company employee initiative to wear blue jeans and Seahawks gear to work on Fridays has produced a sizeable donation for the Olympic Medical Center Cancer Center’s Patient Navigator program through the OMC Foundation.

The staff at Sequim Health and Rehabilitation raised $1,300 by conducting raffles and paying $1 to wear jeans on Fridays for charity during the fall football season, according to Administrator Ed Ebling.

“We have a company policy that you can’t wear jeans to work,” said Ebling, “except on some special dress days such as fundraisers. Since we have several employees that have benefitted from the Patient Navigator program in the past, we were motivated to raise money for the fund.”

The Patient Navigator program provides grants to qualified individuals.

“We are extremely grateful that Sequim Health and Rehabilitation employees were able to do this through the OMC Foundation,” said Patient Navigator program coordinator Sue Clements. “There are several patients who will receive help due to their generosity.”

The program was conducted in the fall so that employees could wear jeans and Seahawks clothing, according to Ebling.
