Free forum shows how music can help heal

Jim Couture, MA,MT-BC, will present a free WOW! Working on Wellness Forum entitled “Music as a Therapeutic Intervention” at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., in Sequim.
Starting with the current March/April 2015 issue of the Scientific American Mind article “Music can heal the brain: the healing power of music”, attendees will learn about the latest research and clinical applications of music.
Couture is the director of OlyCAP’s Encore! Adult Day Center and Arts and Minds Early Memory Loss Program; a member of the Brookdale Foundation Group; and recipient of the Clallam County Public Hero Award.
Prior to moving to the Olympic Peninsula he spent nearly 20 years as the director of music therapy services and clinical training at Springfield Hospital Center in Maryland where his focus was older adult geriatric and medical/surgical populations.
