Foundation opens registration for volunteer management workshop

The Olympic View Community Foundation is hosting a special volunteer management workshop for Clallam and Jefferson county nonprofits.

Entitled “Thriving on Engagement — Building a Strong Volunteer Program,” the workshop is slated for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at the Red Cedar Hall at the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Center in Blyn.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, April 21.

Are you prepared to harness the potential of 21st-century volunteers? What are the basic essentials to building a solid volunteer engagement effort for your organizations? In the workshop, presenters explore the “how” and “why” of effective volunteer engagement, help attendees get a better understanding of the essential elements and infrastructure required to support volunteer involvement efforts and identify simple steps to strengthen volunteer programs.

The workshop is presented by Nikki Russell, a national leader in endorsing the strategic advantage of effective volunteer engagement. With more than 20 years experience in volunteer management — including seven years as the lead trainer for United Way of King County’s Volunteer Center — Russell now directs Development and Community Engagement for United Good Neighbors of Jefferson County.

Russell serves on two national boards: The Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement and The Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration and serves as chairman for the Volunteer Administrators Network Northwest.

“One of the best workshops I’ve ever attended,” said Jody Moss, United Way of Clallam County executive director. “(It) creates a systemic approach toward volunteer management.”

Registration for one person is $45 or come as a group and save: $75 for two persons and $100 for up to three people.

The fee includes a catered lunch prepared by The Cedars at Dungeness staff. Organizations must be a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit.
