Children’s music set at peninsula libraries

Children’s musician Victor Johnson is the featured guest at several branches of the North Olympic Library System in coming days. Johnson appears at a matinee performance at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club (400 W. Fir St.), followed by a performance at 6:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library (2210 S. Peabody St.).

Johnson (above) has appeared on music compilations alongside artists Leon Redbone, Dan Zanes, Elizabeth Mitchell, Eric Bibb, Seamus Eagan, Keola Beamer, Riders in the Sky and Jake Shimabukuro. Visit www.nols.org for additional information about this and other programs for youth.

Book discussion slated for Saturday

“Reading Lolita in Tehran” by Azar Nafisi is the book up for discussion at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Copies of the book are available in various formats, including regular print and audiobook on CD. They may be requested online by visiting the library catalog at www.nols.org.

Fiddlers perform   during Irrfest

The Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association will be meeting and performing Saturday, May 9, at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road. The performance starts at 1:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Donations do support fiddler scholarships. WOTFA is a nonprofit organization.

Stippling artist demo in Port Angeles

During the Second Weekend ArtWalk in Port Angeles, on Friday, May 8, Karon’s Frame Center will feature stippling art by Terry Buchanan. A reception will be from 6-8 p.m. with refreshments. At 6:30 p.m. Buchanan will demonstrate stippling.

Calling all accordionists

The Sequim Accordion Social will be at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 10. A $2 admission is requested at the door to pay for the room.  Einar Tapio from LaConner will be the featured player. Fourth Friday readings have new location

Fourth Friday Readings in Sequim have a new location. The events are moving to The Lodge at Sherwood Village, 660 Evergreen Farm Way, just off Fifth Avenue, beginning May 22.
