Meet Clallam health officer candidate

The Clallam County Board of Health and Clallam Department of Health and Human Services are hosting a community meet-and-greet for Dr. Christopher Frank, a candidate for Clallam County Health Officer.

The event is set for 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, in Room 160 of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Frank is a local physician who works with Family Medicine of Port Angeles. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and did a residency in rural health with University of Wisconsin. Frank is board-certified in Family Medicine. In addition he has a PhD in cellular and molecular medicine.

The County Health Officer provides leadership in developing priorities and setting strategies for Health and Human Services and plays an important role as the key science advisor on program and policy, department officials say.

Dr. Thomas Locke, county Health Officer for 27 years, resigned in January. Dr. Jeanette Stehr-Green is Interim Health Officer and serves until a permanent health officer is appointed.
