Dancers get fit for a cure

Dancers filled the Guy Cole Convention Center in Carrie Blake Park on May 16 for the Party in Pink: Zumbathon.

The event celebrated cancer survivors while raising awareness for breast cancer and funds to combat the disease.

Co-organizer Jessey Allen said the event saw a good turnout and participants had a lot of fun.

At the event, organizers honored cancer survivors in attendance Ann Powers, Wendy Goldberg, Joan Geiser and Allen’s grandmothers Vicki Allen and Marsha Welch, both survivors.

Donations from admission benefits the Susan. G. Komen Foundation, the largest nonprofit source of funds for fighting breast cancer.
