‘Northwest Passage’ debuts

The North Olympic Library System will offer free screenings of the documentary film “The New Northwest Passage” at various library locations this summer. The film will be screened at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the Sequim Library and at the Port Angeles Main Library.

“The New Northwest Passage” tells a tale of adventure as the 40-foot yacht Silent Sound and her crew set off to sail through the infamous passage.

Nature photos on exhibit

During the Second Weekend ArtWalk, Karon’s Frame Center, 625 E. Front St., Port Angeles, will feature the works of artist/photographer Deborah Olander from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 12.

Olander strives to capture beautiful images in nature from the flowers in her garden, to the scenic wonders in national parks and wild places.

Fiddlers campout set

Members of the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association are having their annual campout June 11-14 at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road. Greg and Jere Canote are the featured workshop instructors and performers. Scheduled workshops are both days for violins, guitars and ukekele. There is no charge for members and non-members are welcome with instrument and a $15 donation. Dry camping is only $7. The performance is 1:30-3:30 p.m. on June 13; is free and open to the public. Donations support fiddler scholarships. WOTFA is a nonprofit organization.

Tidepools presents

The staff of Tidepools 2015, Peninsula College’s art, literature and music magazine, host two free upcoming 2015 issue release events and readings.

A Tidepools awards ceremony and issue release is set for 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the Raymond Carver room in the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Co-sponsored by the Port Book and News Reading Series, the event invites the publication’s featured artists, musicians and writers to present their work, and prizes will be awarded to this year’s winners. At 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend, features Tidepools artists.
