Officers make drug arrests in Sequim

Two persons in Sequim were arrested last week during a drug investigation by local law enforcement.

On July 1, detectives from the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team with assistance from the U.S. Border Patrol, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and the Sequim Police Department served a search warrant at 161 W. Spruce St., Sequim. Ashley Perkinson, 25, was arrested during the search.

Perkinson was booked into the Clallam County Jail and charges of delivery of a controlled substance — methamphetamine — will be referred to the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office.

A second suspect, 46-year-old Aaron Davis, was arrested at a nearby motel and booked under the same conditions.

The search warrant was the result of a three-month investigation into narcotics related activity at this address that was initiated following information received from neighbors, arrested persons and local police officers.

During this investigation, OPNET operatives purchased suspected drugs from this location on at least two occasions from at least two different suspects, according to the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.

Reina sentenced in heroin cases

Thomas A. Reina, 51, of Sequim, was sentenced in Clallam County Superior Court on June 11 to serve 24 months community custody. Reina pled guilty on April 1 to two counts of possession of heroin, Class “C” felonies committed on Dec. 5 and Dec. 31 of 2013.

The charges against Reina were the results of cooperative investigations between the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team and Sequim Police Department. During the investigations, officers developed probable cause to believe that Reina delivered heroin to OPNET in Sequim on Dec. 5, 2013, and that Reina then possessed heroin on Dec. 31, 2013.

According to local law enforcement sources, Reina has six prior felony convictions, which include delivery of a controlled substance, forgery, unlawful possession of a firearm, second degree assault, harassment and manufacture of marijuana.
