As part of the 100th anniversary celebration, the Dungeness River Audubon Center and Wind Rose Cellars announce the release of Railroad Bridge Red wine.

Wind Rose Cellars hosts a release party from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at its tasting room, 143 W. Washington St.,Sequim.

Wind Rose will donate a percentage of bottle sales proceeds to the river center. Bottles of Railroad Bridge Red will be available for purchase at Wind Rose Cellars and other local businesses.

“Drop in for a complimentary taste of the new wine and enjoy some appetizers as we raise a glass to one of Sequim’s icon landmarks,” winemaker David Volmut said.

“The Dungeness Railroad Bridge has played an integral role in our community’s growth and history since the first train rolled across it in 1915,” said Powell Jones, executive director of the Dungeness River Audubon Center in Railroad Bridge Park.

Anniversary festivities also take place Sept. 25-26 during this year’s Dungeness River Festival in Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, in Sequim.

River Festival exhibitors will show and celebrate many other aspects of local history and life.

A ceremony and celebration to unveil a plaque commemorating the bridge’s 100 years and its inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places takes place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.

The River Center gift shop features a variety of other commemorative items including 100th Anniversary Railroad Bridge patches and pins, hand-crafted engineer’s caps, and Rainshadow Dark Roast coffee from Sequim’s Rainshadow Roasters.
