Continuing the effort to teach and preserve history, the 4th U.S. Infantry, a unit with the Washington Civil War Association, will set up an American Civil War encampment from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 5-6, and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 7, at Fort Worden Historical State Park, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend.

Like Karla Messerschmidt Morgan, a longtime Sequim resident, did during Port Angeles Heritage Days, troops and civilians alike will be taking part in this living history event dressed in period-correct clothing.

The event is free to attend and the public is encouraged to join in the ongoing celebration of 150th anniversary of the American Civil War fought from 1861-1865.
