Jazz dinner-dance set
Sequim High School’s 2015 Jazz Dinner & Dance features the Stardust Big Band and SHS Jazz Band on Saturday, Jan. 16. Listen to live music, dine and dance. Doors open at 6 p.m.; music starts at 6:30 p.m. Price includes dinner. Proceeds benefit Sequim High School Band Program. The event is sponsored by SHS Band Boosters. Reading going to the dogs
The Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., invites the public to celebrate the new year by sharing a story with furry, four-legged friends from Olympic Gentle Paws Therapy Dog Club at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7.
Event coordinators say reading to a dog or other pet “creates a supportive and fun environment in which readers of all ages and abilities can practice their skills with confidence and joy.”

3-D sculpture exhibit goes up at Civic Center
An exhibit of three-dimensional sculptures opens at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, in the lobby of the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., as part of Sequim’s First Friday Art Walk.
The exhibit includes 19 pieces of artwork in a variety of mediums that were created by local artists Lewis Bennett, Dale Blankenship, Barb Boerigter, Linda Collins Chapman, Janine Hegy, John McBride, Larry McCaffrey, Betty Oppenheimer, Christian Speidel, Lloyd Taylor, David Tinsley and Kevin Willson.
The exhibit is presented by the City Arts Advisory Commission and will be on display through March 31. Regular business hours for the Civic Center are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Fiddlers play in Sequim
Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association members meet and perform on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim.
From 1:30-3:30 p.m., members present a performance of fiddle, country and bluegrass music.
The performance is free and open to the public. Donations will support fiddler scholarships.
The association is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and perpetuating old time fiddle music and associated arts and crafts.
Chorus hosts ‘Open House’ evening
Grand Olympics Chorus is hosting an open house — Girls’ Night Out — set for 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at QFC Plaza, Suite E-103, in Sequim.
The event and group is open to women from teenagers and older who would like to learn to sing some a cappella harmony. Light refreshments will be served.

Music festival moves to Fort Worden
The Olympic Music Festival will present its 33rd season in partnership with the Centrum Foundation at Fort Worden in Port Townsend rather on its farm near Quilcene.
In October, OMF founder Alan Iglitzin advised the board of directors of his intention to retire as executive director and to revert the festival grounds into private property.
The festival’s 2016 season will be from Aug. 13-Sept. 11. Julio Elizalde continues his tenure as artistic director with the support of the organization’s board of directors.
