Garden patio open at Emerald restaurant

The Emerald Northwest Grill & Public House, 179 W. Washington St., Sequim, recently has opened an outdoor patio dining area for seasonal use.

The patio features eight tables, covered, and umbrella tables with a garden atmosphere. Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday-Saturday. The entrance is in the alley behind Washington Street.

The Home Depot in Sequim hosts several free upcoming workshops in July, including:

New summer hours set for Wind Rose Cellars

Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., Sequim, has new hours for the summer: 1-6 p.m. Tuesday/Wednesday; 1-10 p.m. Thursday/Friday, noon-10 p.m. Saturday. Live music is Thursday from 6-6:30 p.m., from 7-9 p.m. Friday/Saturday.


Washington adds jobs; unemployment rate static

Despite adding 8,700 jobs from April to May 2016, Washington state’s unemployment rate remains at 5.8 percent for the sixth month in a row, according to the state’s Employment Security Department.

State officials released estimates from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics as part of its May Monthly Employment Report in mid-June. In Clallam County, the May 2016 unemployment rate is 7.8 percent (not seasonally adjusted), tied for sixth-highest among Washington state’s 39 counties.
