So far, so good.
Sequim Little League’s softball majors squad kicked off the Division 2 tournament with a win in friendly confines Saturday, knocking off East Jefferson County 13-3 at James Standard Park in Sequim.
The win set up a game between Sequim and North Kitsap on June 28 — results were not available at press time — and put the local squad just two wins from a state tourney berth.
A loss on Tuesday puts Sequim in a loser-out game at 6 p.m. June 29 while a win against North Kitsap puts them in a double-elimination position and game at 6 p.m. on June 30.
The state tourney is set for July 9-16 at Ferris High School in Spokane.
Sequim has a pair of other Little League teams in action this week.
The Sequim 9- and 10-year-olds (boys) play at 1 p.m. Friday, July 1, against South Kitsap-West in the first round of the District 2 tournament in Gig Harbor.
The tourney wraps up July 9 or 10, depending on championship round outcomes, with the state tourney starting July 16 in Snohomish County.
Sequim’s boys majors team starts District 2 play against South Kitsap-West at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, in Port Orchard.
The boys majors state tourney is July 23-Aug. 9 in Bellevue.
