Who doesn’t love a good comeback story?
Sequim Little League’s softball majors squad needed three wins in as many days to advance to the state tournament — and that’s exactly what they got.
Sequim’s Girls Majors softball squad, coached by Craig Vig and playing on their home field in Sequim, knocked off North Kitsap 8-7 in the District 2 championship game on Friday, July 1, winning the five-team tourney held at James Standard Park in Sequim.
The local softball squad heads to Spokane’s Ferris High School later this month, where they will battle for a Washington state title.
Sequim opened the tournament with a 13-3 win against East Jefferson County on June 25.
Sequim dropped a 7-6 decision to North Kitsap on June 28, but rebounded with a 17-2 thrashing of Bainbridge Island in a loser-out game on June 29.
On June 30, in a rematch with North Kitsap, Sequim broke open a 2-2 tie late in the game and routed their foes from Kitsap County, 7-2, setting up Friday’s final.

Sequim’s youngest Little League all-stars, the Boys Minors team, opened their District 2 tourney with a 7-5 loss to South Kitsap-West on July 1 in Gig Harbor.
Sequim, managed by Matt Eveland, followed that with a 15-5 defeat at the hands of North Kitsap-American on July 3.
