Country music benefit set

The Sequim Guild brings “Texas Swing and Country Music” to Sequim and Port Angeles on Aug. 6, featuring award-winning artists Kristyn Harris and Kate Powers. The benefit concerts will be from 1-3 p.m. at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road; and 7-9 p.m. at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St. Admission is $15 at the door.

The performances benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital.

SCC hosts Leon Patillo

A former member of the group Santana, Leon Patillo is featured in concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in the Fellowship Center at Sequim Community Church, 1000 N. Fifth Ave.

After leaving the Latin rock and roll group Santana, Patillo launched a solo career, bringing music, humor and teaching to the stage.

The public is invited. There is no charge for the concert.

Quartet plays Brubeck

The popular jazz quartet of Linda Dowdell, piano; Craig Buhler, sax; Ted Enderle, bass; and Terry Smith, drums, will play twice with New York vocalist Elinore O’Connell, who adds a unique blend of jazz, pop and folk songs to classic Dave Brubeck repertoire. The events will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, and from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. ‘Dracula’ revisited

“Dracula” by Bram Stoker will be discussed at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Copies of “Dracula” are available in various formats including regular print, as well as downloadable audio and e-books; they can be requested online by visiting the library catalog at www.nols.org.

Classic book reprinted by JeffCo historical society

The Jefferson County Historical Society has reprinted Jerry Gorsline’s book, “Shadows of Our Ancestors: Readings in the History of Klallam-White Relations.”

The book, originally published in 1992 by Empty Bowl, is a unique and valuable resource for Northwest history that has long been out of print.

“Shadows of Our Ancestors” is now available through Amazon and at www.jchsmuseum.org as well as the Museum Shop at Jefferson Museum of Art & History in Port Townsend and at Port Book and News in Port Angeles.

Trio chosen for PT art show

Congratulations are due to Blue Whole Gallery members Kate Loveland (photographer), Karen Rozbicki Stringer (photographer) and David Tinsley (sculptor) who have been selected to be included in Art Port Townsend/Expressions Northwest, the Northwind Arts Center and Port Townsend Arts Commission’s 18th annual juried art exhibition.

The exhibit will be held Aug 4-28 at the Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St., Port Townsend. Juror Patricia Watkinson, an art and museum consultant based in Seattle, selected 85 pieces from 335 works of art submitted from artists throughout the Northwest.
