Golf for SHS football
SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway, is home to the 2016 “Golf for Football” tournament, set for Saturday, Aug. 6.
Cost is $50 per person or $200 per four-person team and includes 18 holes of golf, range balls and lunch. Golf carts are not included but can be rented for an additional $30 ($15 each player) per cart.
Money raised helps Sequim High School football players attend camps, participate in conditioning programs and provide equipment.
Put a team together or call SkyRidge at 683-3673 to get on a team. The golf course can accommodate up to 20 four-person teams.

Charity moto run slated for Aug. 14
The ABATE Charity Run motorcycle ride is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14.
Registration is 9-11 a.m. at 7 Cedars Casino in Blyn, then sees riders go to 520 River Road in Sequim. The event, which includes games, a barbecue and refreshments, is a fundraiser for Sequim’s Safe Harbor youth drop-in center, part of Serenity House of Clallam County.
Cost is $10 per person ($20 for couples).

Volunteers sought for duathlon, 5k event
Organizers of The Great Northwest Duathlon and 5k set for Aug. 14 in Sequim are seeking volunteers to help out with the event.
Volunteers are needed for four areas: transition area/finish line; post-race food; corner marshals and water station/course help for the 5k portion.
The event is slated for a 9 a.m. start time at 72 Lotzgesell Road in Sequim.

Sequim man sinks first ace
Andy Cordeiro of Sequim sank his first hole-in-one at The Cedars at Dungeness on July 14.
Cordeiro used a pitching wedge to drive the 137-yard hole No. 17 at The Cedars.
Dustin Halverson of Sequim witnessed the feat.
