Volunteer opportunities abound at Olympic Theatre Arts

Looking for an entertaining and fulfilling volunteer opportunity? Look no further than Olympic Theatre Arts, Sequim’s local volunteer community theater that is a hub of ongoing artistic activity.

That activity, however, could not flourish without a strong cadre of volunteers. As the adage goes, many hands make light work. In that respect, OTA is rolling out a new expanded and enhanced volunteer program with the hope of recruiting even more active team members.

There are many different types of opportunities for volunteers within the theater company and community center. It’s more than the talented actors, producers and directors that let the show go on.

“We recently conducted a volunteer survey with our existing volunteer base and the response was impressive, yielding some very insightful and inspiring ideas,” OTA Executive Director Carol Willis said. “We asked, they responded and we are listening.”

A specially formed OTA committee has since been working to answer the call. The committee has designed a new process to make it easier for volunteers to sign up, to enhance the communication process between the volunteers and the OTA staff and to let the volunteers know about all of the different ways that they can help.

“We’ve enjoyed some healthy growth over the past few years and need more help than ever,” Willis said.

“With the launching of this new system, we hope to attract lots of new people and offer to our existing volunteer base a chance to look around and discover new and different ways to be a part of our OTA family. The form is very user-friendly, even fun to fill out, and the results will be electronically filed, sorted and referenced for greater efficiency on our part.”
