Save the date: Sunland golf groups hosting ‘Drive for the Cure’ Sept. 29
The Sunland Women’s Golf Association and Sunland Lady Niners are joining together to host their annual fundraising event, “Drive for the Cure” Golf Tournament and Luncheon on Sept. 29, and it’s open to all players.
Tournament organizers welcome both men and women to play, have lunch and donate to the cause.
This event helps the Olympic Medical Center Foundation to pay for breast cancer detection for men and women in need on the Olympic Peninsula. All proceeds go to fund care for local residents.
As in previous years, an anonymous Sunland member will donate $1 for every $3 donated for the cause. It is anticipated the donations will exceed last year’s total of $6,000.
Shotgun time for the 18-hole competition is 9 a.m. and the nine-hole game has a shotgun start set for 11 a.m. Cost is $36 for 18 holes and lunch, and $26 for nine holes and lunch. Sunland members pay $20 for 18 or nine holes and lunch, which will be charged to their account.
Those interested are welcome to come for lunch only for $15. Riding carts are reserved for $16 per seat for 18 holes, $10 per seat for nine holes. In addition, a minimum donation of $25 is suggested for the OMC Foundation.
Other fundraising opportunities include a Sequim Rehabilitation-sponsored putting contest costing $10 for three chances and a package of one “magic putt” and one Mulligan for $5 per package. Many gift baskets donated by local supporters also will be raffled.
There will be a musical performance at lunch featuring local musicians and an information table with Olympic Medical Cancer Center literature.
The deadline to sign up is noon Sept. 22. For more information, call the Sunland Pro Shop at 683-6800 and ask to have either Judy Flanders or Christie Wilson return your call.
