Mujeres de Maiz dinner, auction set

The 11th annual Mujeres de Maiz Opportunity Foundation fundraising dinner and silent auction is set for Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Sequim Masonic Lodge, 700 S. Fifth Ave.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served about 6 p.m. A $25 donation is suggested. The event includes a no host wine and beer bar.

Judith Pasco, a former Spanish teacher at Sequim High School, runs the locally-based nonprofit that helps bring education to girls and women living in hill tribes of Mexico.

The silent auction features many items (weavings, clothing, jewelry, etc) from Chiapas and the women the group supports, as well as other global and local items.
