DISTRICT

The Sequim School District is working with community leaders to develop a Six-Year Strategic Plan during a series of sessions at Sequim’s Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St. The next meeting is at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, April 13. Dr. David Engle is facilitating the sessions. For more information, contact Marilyn Walsh at 582-3262 or mwalsh@sequim.k12.wa.us.

The next school board meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday, April 17, in the district boardroom (located in the Sequim High School auditorium building, 533 N. Sequim Ave).

The public is invited to attend and time is set aside for public comment.

Board directors are Robin Henrikson (president), Heather Short (vice president), Mike Howe, Jim Stoffer (legislative representative) and Brian Kuh.

The Sequim Education Foundation Film Festival and Art Show is set for Friday, April 21, at the Sequim High School auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave. The art show begins at 6 p.m. and the film festival at 7 p.m. For more information about the film festival, contact Christy Ditlefsen at cditlefsen@ sequim.k12.wa.us.

An open house detailing teacher certification is planned from 3:30-7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, in the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave. Explore options to obtain a teacher certification. District paraeducators or other school district employees, substitutes, individuals with a college degree or others working in another profession but ready for a change may be interested.

SEQUIM MIDDLE SCHOOL

Student-led conferences are just around the corner. Students will be released from school at 11 a.m. on April 20-21 to attend their scheduled student-led conference.

These conferences are by appointment only.

Your student will be contacting you during their Wolfpack time on April 14 to schedule the conference. Your student will lead the conference with his/her advisor.

At this time, parents/guardians will be given their student’s Term 3 report card.

GREYWOLF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Family Involvement Night is 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the school’s multi-purpose room. The subject will be Smarter Balanced Assessments. Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders are encouraged to bring their parents. Childcare is provided and the entire family is invited to attend. Tailgating snacks will be provided. One family from each grade level will win four tickets to a Seattle Mariners game.

“Into the Woods” performances are 6 p.m. April 20-21 in the multi-purpose room. Admission is free. This year’s drama club presentation is directed by Sequim High School sophomore Damon Little, with assistance from teachers Shannon Green and Sheri Burke.

HELEN HALLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

A kindergarten readiness meeting for parents will be held in the library from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12. A kindergarten registration event is planned for May 1 at each elementary school. Students must be 5 years of age by Aug. 31 to enter kindergarten in fall 2017.
