The library was renovated over the summer to create space for a STEM classroom. As school families flowed through the school campus during the Aug. 29 event, students received stamps from teachers on their “passports” at each station to earn an ice cream prize in the multi-purpose room. GREYWOLF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

First-grade teacher Monique Brasher had plastic hard hats for her first-graders to decorate with stickers as a welcoming classroom activity for the first day of school. Each student had their name printed on their hat to help with first day introductions.

HELEN HALLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Back to School Night was a great kick-off for preparing families for the first day of school and a great opportunity to introduce students and their parents to the Kids at Hope philosophy. Families visited different locations around campus to participate in activities that helped teach the new Kids at Hope mindset. On one stop, students visited the library to write down a goal they have for the year.

In the music room, principal Becky Stanton watched as each student signed the Kids at Hope Pledge: “I am a kid at hope. I am talented, smart and capable of success. I have dreams for the future and I will climb to reach those goals and dreams every day. All children are capable of success, no exceptions!”

OLYMPIC PENINSULA ACADEMY

Otter Day was an orientation event for students and parents. Students got to have their school photos taken, meet their instructors and participate in a series of activities with classmates. While students were busy with these assignments, parents attended sessions where they learned many things, including how to create a good learning environment at home and how to assist with their student’s homework.

OPA families are off to a great start!
