Milestone: SHS seniors Schuman, Garcia Osorio awarded Soroptimist scholarships

Soroptimist International of Sequim recently presented their 2019 high school scholarships to Pahola Garcia Osorio and Shayli Schuman.

Osorio, pictured at left, will begin her college career at Everett Community College with a goal entering the field of medicine and eventually becoming a doctor. She would like to return to her birth country of Guatemala and serve woman and families of rural areas. She has volunteered in the community at the Sequim Food Bank and is part of the Community Emergency Response Team.

Schuman will enter Western Washington University and is recognized at admission with distinction and will major in kinesiology. She is a member of Honor Society and Sequim High School Leadership, and has volunteered for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) nights at the local elementary schools.
