This weekend the Sequim Farmers Market will participate in Sequim Lavender Weekend and for only this weekend the market will be open two days and two more hours each day, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on both Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20.

Enjoy the live music as you browse through all things lavender in our artisan, food, and farm booths.

Each vendor has their own unique handcrafted speciality. Here is just a taste of what you will find this weekend: Sequim Bee Farm will bring the long awaited lavender honey, lavender infused honey and lavender orange creamed honey; Madrona Ridge Pottery creates bowls and plates with lavender impressions — lavender is pressed in the clay and then colored with glaze; Olga’s Yurt of Fiber uses lavender to inspire the designs of felted pillows, felted hats, and more; Dungeness Gold will offer two spice blends that include lavender — Black Lavender Pepper and the Essence of Sequim; and enjoy a wine tasting at the Hurricane Hills booth and try the award-winning, locally made, Blackberry Lavender wine.

Sativa Valley Essentials will have lavender cotton candy — blending lavender essential oils grown and distilled on the farm, with sugar floss for cotton candy. This will be in addition to lavender wreaths, lavender kokedama and more.

Olympic Peninsula Authors will offer The Lavender of Sequim by local author Bonnie Gillis. It includes 95 gorgeous color photos from local farms plus lavender history, recipes, harvesting and drying tips. This is a terrific local book to cherish.

Sea Basket Farm will bring special blends of fresh lavender — Fred Boutin and Grosso. The different lavender varieties are amazing together and hold their lovely fragrances for decades. To top it all off, they will create a limited supply of delicately constructed kelp baskets that will be decorated with freshly cut lavender.

Saturday only, Joy Farm (Certified Organic) and River Run Farm (Certified Organic) bring freshly picked, local produce to the market: new potatoes, garlic, snap peas, cauliflower, fennel, raspberries, lettuce, broccolini, spinach, radishes, beets, and a small quantity of strawberries. Just a tip: bring a cooler and ice packs in your vehicle for your produce and that way you can keep your produce fresh while you explore all that the festival has to offer.

Friday and Saturday Sequim Community Makerspace will have toy and tool making for children of all ages. All supplies included. Stop by to see how everyday objects can be repurposed into new toys, gifts, arts, crafts and more. Inventor Brad Griffith will demonstrate that “Wood is not dead.” The ability to bend wood without steam or boiling will now make it possible for everyone to enjoy working with wood no matter your age of skill level.

This Summer Live Music series continues from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with Forest Beutel performing on Friday and Mixed Company performing on Saturday. Bring your lawn chairs, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the show.
