For the second consecutive year, the Sequim Wolves have played Lakewood in a non-league match — and for the second straight year, the Wolves and Cougars played to a 1-1 tie.

Daisy Ryan had the Wolves’ goal.

Wolves’ coach Derek Vandevelde said he was happy with how his team, which was missing a number of starters, played.

Four players filled in for starters: sophomores Payton Johnson and Zoe Moore and junior varsity players Alliyah Weber and Svea Sparks.

“They did a really good job,” Vandevelde said.

“It’s nice to see what level we’re at and nice to see what other girls can do,” he said.

Sequim was slated to host 1A powerhouse Klahowya on Sept. 10 — results were not available at press time

The Wolves start Olympic League play at Port Angeles on Sept. 12, and host Bremerton on Sept. 17.
