Stand Down set for Oct. 3

A Stand Down, a special day for homeless veterans and all veterans in need especially those with immediate dependent families, is scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Clallam County Fairgrounds 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles.

This one-day event offered three times a year in May, July and October, and sees more than 25 benefit organizations along with numerous volunteers offer various services fro veterans, including hot meals (breakfast, lunch), medical/dental screening, screening information for colon and breast cancer, housing information, employment and education, veteran benefits, counseling, legal aid, haircuts, food, pet supplies, new clothing and more.

There is free transportation to the event via Clallam and Jefferson Transit buses.
