Gearing up for its silver jubilee, the Sequim Farmers Market has some new student-created artwork to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Representatives announced Zoe Jones the winner of a student art contest that will be the market’s logo in 2020.

“We will use the logo in all marketing materials for the 25th anniversary throughout the entire year,” Gina Witz, Sequim Farmers Market board president, said last week. “The logo will represent the market on banners, printed materials, media, stickers and tote bags to name a few.”

Jones, a freshman at Sequim High School, took top honors with her design, while fellow SHS students Madeline Pickens (sophomore) and Alyssa Lofstrom (senior) were top-three contest selections.

The students were honored with certificates and gifts at the market’s holiday fair on Dec. 21.

“I knew we had exceptional youth artists and thought it would be a community effort by asking students to offer their creations,” Witz said.

Market representatives posted entries at a November holiday fair and had the market vendors and guests vote for their favorites; they received nearly 300 votes.

“We are striving to create a community partnership and to show thanks and appreciation for our city,” Witz said.

Jones’ logo will represent the market on banners, printed materials, media, stickers, tote bags and more, Witz said.

Plans for the Sequim Farmers Market’s 25th anniversary are still in the works, she said.

The market is also seeking a new market manager for the 2020 season.
