Members of the Michael Trebert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Sequim Sunrise Rotary groups helped clean the headstones and plaques of military veterans from all wars at the Sequim View Cemetery last week.

The advance cleaning was done in preparation for National Wreath Day, set for Saturday, Dec. 19 — when wreaths will be laid at each grave to honor each veteran.

Preservationist Mick Hersey conducted and hour of “do no harm” instruction before the cleansing began.

“We had a real good turnout of 21 volunteers helping restore honor and dignity to the final resting place of over 70 veterans and family members,” Hersey said.
