Coffee with deputy mayor set
The City of Sequim continues to partner with KSQM FM radio to host a live call-in session with city leaders each month. Tune in to Coffee with the Deputy Mayor starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25.
Residents are encouraged to tune into 91.5 FM or visit ksqmfm.com/live, where Sequim deputy mayor Tom Ferrell will be joined by interim city manager Charisse Deschenes to answer questions or receive comments.
Listeners may call 360-681-0000 during the show to ask questions live, or they can submit questions in advance to city clerk Sara McMillon by email at smcmillon@ sequimwa.gov, or by traditional mail to: City Clerk Sara McMillon, 152 West Cedar St., Sequim, WA 98382.
Coffee with the Mayor is an opportunity for residents to meet with the mayor or representative to chat, ask questions, express a concern, or make a comment about the city.
Charter Review slates virtual housing discussion
A quartet of guest speakers look to explore the 2020 Charter Review Commission’s recommendation to meet housing needs in Clallam County at a special meeting via Zoom from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25.
Speakers include: Norma Turner, first vice chair for the commission; activist/local volunteer Ingrid Carmean; attorney Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin, and Charter Review commissioner Mary Doherty.
The meeting topic is one of five recommendations the Charter Review Commission has sent to the Board of County Commissioners. View all five recommendations at clallam.net/bocc/homerulecharter.html (under “Documents).

PC program to explore inner world of public programming
Drawing on more than a decade of event production in person and online, Dr. Tilly Hinton will share her principles for humanizing the event experience during Peninsula College’s Studium Generale event Thursday, Feb. 25.
The online event, “Production Values: Hidden Qualities of High-Impact Experiences & Events,” begins at 12:30 p.m., is free and is open to the public.

This session takes participants inside the usually hidden, inner workings of public programming to “explore how cultivating belonging, attentiveness, and sustenance can transform audience experience.” These principles apply to gatherings of every scale, from crafting an event, a conference, a birthday party, a symposium, a staff retreat, a dinner with friends or anything else.
Hinton is a cultural producer, author and strategist, an Australian who calls Los Angeles, home. For the final quarter of 2020, she was the startup catalyst for the ambitious Rose River Memorial project, a handcrafted national monument to COVID-19 deaths.
Garden Show goes virtual once more
Soroptimist International of Sequim announced last week what would be the group’s 23rd-annual Gala Garden Show has been transformed into a Virtual Garden Show because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Due to the popularity of the webinars that replaced last year’s 22nd-annual event, show organizers said the entire month of May will be devoted to garden-related webinars with a kick-off video on the organization’s Facebook page March 20.
The virtual show will be held May 1-23, with presentations by the Master Gardeners of Clallam County and by keynote speaker Christina Pfeiffer.
Platinum sponsors for this event includes the Sequim Gazette and KSQM, with 7 Cedars sponsoring the keynote speaker.

Voting open for conservation district board
Three candidates have filed and met requirements for the 2021 Clallam Conservation District Board of Supervisors election: Lori DeLorm, Robert Majure and Nina Sarmiento.
The deadline to request to vote by mail is at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26.
Or, there will also be in-person voting held from noon- 8 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at the Armory Square Building in downtown Port Angeles, 228 W. First St.
